Transport Canada recently completed a risk assessment of the current regulations in order to allow the four place Hummingbird to be licensed to fly in Canada. Current regulations had restrictions allowing only two place and a gross weight of 1540 lbs. for Amateur Built helicopters. We passed the Public Safety and Public Interest tests and last was the risk assessment. Accordingly, Transport Canada will prepare a Notice of Proposed Amendment to enable the necessary changes. In the interim, the existing Exemption to Chapter 549 of the Airworthiness Manual will be amended to remove the automatic weight and occupancy limitations. The amended exemption is expected to be issued by the end of this month, March 2009. Finally, it’s a done deal.
